About Me

Dr. Matthew Guenther has been in practice for 10 years with the past 3 years spent in veterinary emergency medicine following 7 years in general practice on Vancouver Island.  Dr. Guenther always had a passion for ultrasound and its ability to provide a significant amount of information in a non-invasive and cost effective way.

Dr. Guenther began his journey into ultrasound by learning point-of-care techniques followed by short weekend courses.  After seeing the limitation and slow progression with these courses, he committed to taking an immersive 8 month program with Soft Tissue ultrasound techniques and interpretation taught by radiologist Dr. Dana Neelis DACVR and Echocardiology taught by Dr. June Boon and cardiology professor Dr. Sonya Gordon DACVIM (Cardiology).

Since completing these courses Dr. Guenther has been providing ultrasound services at Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital for inpatients and soon for outpatients alongside providing mobile ultrasound to clinics in the mid-island.
